Hi guys. I just wanted to share this build with you. Hopefully some of you will find it interesting, and maybe even try it out. 😊

I have no strong feelings about what ascendancy to pick for this build, so I'll leave that up to whoever potentially decides to play it. I also recommend watching the video where I describe it more in detail, as well as showcasing the build.

But anyway this is the main outline of the build:

The build is mainly based on chaos damage over time, and most of all poison damage. We either create a smoke cloud ourselves with the Decompose skill triggered on step by sacrificing our four Skeleton Brutes, or simply thrash a mob with Hexblast to generate a corpse.

As soon as the poison cloud is generated we place two Dark Effigy totems. Now these totems will fire one projectile per Damage over Time debuff on the enemies. When enemies enter the poison cloud they will quickly reach four poison stacks, meaning that they will be bombarded by four projectiles per totem, so eight projectiles in total.

After the totems have been summoned we also cast Contagion on one enemy, a powerful damage-over-time debuff that spreads on death to other enemies.

We also have the possibility of spamming Essence Drain on enemies to apply further Damage Over Time debuffs, while also spreading Contagion to other enemies through the projectile hit.

This would in turn make the Dark Effigy totems fire even more projectiles at the enemies. If enemies for some reason get too close to us we have the powerful Hexblast spell to kill them fast to generate new smoke clouds.

The item that makes this possible is the Corpsewade boots. These boots give us the skill “Decompose” that will trigger on step - so basically whenever we move.

It deals poison damage, so chaos damage over time, by a percentage of the corpse’s life - meaning that using corpses with more life such as rares and magic mobs will give the poison cloud more damage.

For clearing we can use Hexblast to defeat an enemy to trigger the first smoke cloud, but for bosses this doesn’t work. This is why we want as much life as possible on our Skeleton Brute minions, so that when we use them to generate corpses through the Sacrifice skill, the Decompose poison cloud will do more damage.

For Decompose we use the Comorbidity support to add an additional poison stack, and since we also have two more poison stacks from the passive tree this amounts to four total stacks on top of the one base stack.

We also let the spell echo with the Spell Echo support gem so that we get more smoke clouds, as well as spreading a plague to all enemies through the Bursting Plague support.

Further, we increase the magnitude of the poison through the Deadly Poison support gem.

As mentioned, when these poison clouds are active we place two Dark Effigy totems.

Now the most important thing to note here is that we use the Withering Touch support gem to wither enemies on hit, which increases the chaos damage they take. This can also stack, so it’s a great way of increasing our total damage output.

Also, we use the Envenom support so that the totems also can apply poison to enemies.

This is especially effective for bosses to maintain all the poison stacks so that the totems fire as many projectiles as possible.
