How do you get another djinn coin?
I was told it was a random drop, I failed my first trials at 28, I'm now lvl 43 and still haven't been able to do my 2nd ascendency, this seems ridiculous?

Your 2nd ascendancy isn't from Djinn Coins. You get it in A3, is unlocked in Chimeral Wetlands. You have to do the 4 round ultimatum for it.
The djinn tokens that drop are just for doing "sanctum" at the token's level for the "sanctum" rewards. I'm assuming the one you failed at level 28 came from the drop from the Twins in Deshar in A2. That's just something for loot.
If you failed the very first trial and haven't actually ascended at all yet, go back and talk to balbala in the trial start area. She will give you another quest coin so you can do the first trial.
The second one you can do a 2-floor coin which is a random drop, or the ultimatum.
I got one randomly in A3, however, as others have noted, your 2nd ascendancy is from Ultimatum Trial in A3.
Talk to the npc there. He will give you the option to try again for free
I saw a comment somewhere, not sure if true, that these are the stages you need for each ascendancy.

Sekhema - 1/2/3/4
It's a drop but I think they can be traded too.
