Any merit to this idea? poison spark.
A bit lost on what to play so I wandered back memory lane and poison spark was brought to mind. There is no lightning to chaos convert that works with poison in poe2 to my knowledge. But there are Plaguefinder gloves giving the line "All damage from hits contribute to poison magnitude".
If i then roll pathfinder, and path to Stacking Toxins and building toxins or just building toxins for 2/3 max poisons and then pathfinder ascendancy to double to 4 or 6 (depending on if losing magnitude from stacking toxins is worth it). Do maxroll widowhail and a +2 proj, 40% proj speed and 100% pierce quiver for (x3.5) +7 gems, 140% proj speed and 350% pierce (unsure if you can pierce multiple times anyways).
In ranger area there is more proj speed and chain of wall etc. You can grab some poison chance in tree and poison chance support for 100% poison chance along with 10% from said unique gloves.
So now you have 6 poisons for 120% of hit damage per second extra (not accounting for inflict faster and such multipliers) with a shit ton of projspeed and wall bounce with like 22+ proj fired from spark per cast. this basically ensures max poison stacks on anything. Then i guess grab whatever spell damage you can from amulet, rings and other pieces.
Or is this just worse in every single way than just a archmage stormweaver spark? without PoB i have not crunched any numbers except making sure we reach the poison chance and proj speed to make us actually get stacks.

Seems like a fundamentally flawed idea because of the poison stack limit. An optimized Spark setup is easily going to be hitting way more than 6 times per poison duration. For any hits past that you'll just be dealing less damage compared to a normal spark build.
Poison works with just about anything in PoE1 because it has no stack limit. In PoE2 I think it will work better with skills that deal more damage per hit.
I’m currently trying this now and am hit based. Only level 30 now, but it levels really well because we can just scale prob damage, get pierce in the tree to free up a support. I doubt it’s going to do as much damage as an archmage build, but it’s really fun and seems promising.
I noticed that controlled destruction double drops the more damage multiplier for the hit and the dot. I can also use raging spirits with chaos infusion, either, blind, and maim for defenses and easy wither stacks. For defences I’m going evasion es hybrid with ghost dance. Still trying to figure out how to reliably get lightning exposure since the poison is based off the hit after all damage reduction calculations
