Visual Clutter is Too Much

5913

Whether or not to reduce mob density is one issue (I personally think it is far too dense in some areas).

However, does everyone agree that the screen is too full of visual effects that make it hard to parse out what is happening? It gets worse the deeper into the game you go.

The auras, the particle effects, the floor effects.

Then there are the enemy health bars. Assuming you want to see the health of the mobs. Which... you assuredly do.

It's a mess.

Yeaaa and imagine it with a bad GPU so you must play into dynamic resolution and have it in blurry pixels x)
This is why i've never played poe in coop, it's already messy in solo.

It's hard to read but in a way, that's the charm of the game, it become like the tunnel vision in race car : you can't see shit but you know what you do.

Fit_Jellyfish42173

I agree. I can barely see what's going on on the ground between flamewall, raging spirits, and my minions.Β

TyrantofTales2

I haven't really had an issue outside of a few mobs but are people really playing with mob health bars on?

MathieuAF1

i'm new to poe, reached lv60 and my mercenary is just a firework guy, the "slow paced methodical combat" has been over for a while i'd say, i'm mindlessly spamming gas + detonation running around, occasionaly stoping to gather drops XD ... i really hoped this wouldnt turn out this way but.. IT IS WHATITIES i guess XD my bad for picking easy mod i probably shouldnt have gone for close combat and suffer like everyone i see complaining here abt the difficulty of playing close combat x'(

Gl0wStickzz1

Yes, but I have vision issues.

My biggest visual complaint is mobs abilities being not visually present... differs from scenario to scenario.

Abilities covering it main source.

Already posted this on the forum, but having your electricity/flame have the same color as enemy electricity/flame makes visualization impossible. I've died way too many times and lost too many maps to being unable to tell what's the bad electricity and what's the good electricity

I played a map with a couple of friends. A infernalist, a deadeye and a monk. Not one of us could see what the heck was going on. I was like screen and half away from the action casting shit. At one point a minion (couldn't even tell what it was) walked out of nowehere trough my friend's wall of fire and sucker-punched me into oblivion, killing me in a flinch. Never ever again. Also the framerate dropped like 85% in most fights.

Fun experience. Never ever again thanks

I am playing with my bf and at this point in the game at Cruel Act 2 with an Infernalist SRS and fireball COF Stormweavee, it’s safe to say we see absolutely no boss mechanic anymore. Only fire, a lot of damn fire. I personally have to stop myself from casting stuff just to see what the boss is about to do.

Mob-density, movement speed and attack speed are a scourge on this game if it REALLY wants to lean into the "engaging combat" side of things, with deliberate, meaningful moment-to-moment gameplay, they all need to go down dramatically.

If instead the game is supposed to be just another iteration on the safe, old formula, then this is fine and perfectly normal, and likely just the beginning.

It all depends whether GGG actually wants to make a bold move and make "a very different game" or if they prefer to cater to their pre-existing audience.

permag021

Hope they implement an accessibility option to change every projectile, aoe etc into one color. Red for enemies and blue for you.

FrancisCabrou1

Act 2 boss just spam bullshit until you cant see anything

Tornado, portal that throw shit, lightning, laser wall, and ofc thΓ© boss own attacks

paped21

I mean...that's kind of the point of these games...it's like the flashing lights at a slot machine

Nosp11

Hostile effects needs to be clearer from an accessibility standpoint. Playing in a party as a melee its impossible to differentiate between friendly and hostile effects. And there are so many effects that are just fluff and don't do damage but hide the ones you really should dodge.

Equivalent_Bath_75130

Well, it's way easier than in poe1, but I hoped it would be way better than it is, ye

wymo19920

Yeah it gets way too cluttered. I can't tell where my character is sometimes. I have no idea how they play tested this and thought it was okay lol

BearMerchant0

I've died so many times to shit I can't see in this game it's a bit crazy lol. I don't understand why there aren't AOE telegraphs for critical things like enemy death explosions and stuff. Not to mention I'm running flame wall with fortress and it lights up the screen like nobody's business.

I really hope they add visual telegraphs because I can't even tell sometimes how far an enemy's hit is going to go. I'll dodge and still get hit half the time anyway.

Mdu5t-1

Ice Nova makes it so that you barely see the AoE.
