Ice Shot Stormweaver - Very Satisfying Clear | Great Boss Damage | One Button | Acro/Crit/Shock/Freeze [WIP Still, All Content Viable]
-
Intro
I've been getting quite a few messages asking me to post a rough guide on my current build. A Stormweaver using Ice Shot. This is a one button build, two buttons on bosses if you want to min/max it. The build is still a work in progress with non-perfect gear, but as I don't have enough time to play a ton I will share it in it's current state. Feedback is always welcomed. While the build isn't nerf-proof or safe from everything, it should easily survive a nerf to HoWA or attribute stacking. It doesn't abuse archmage, so no worries there since it's definitely going to be tuned down. -
Disclaimer
This build uses some uniques and requires some above average gear, this is not a league starter nor does it require mirror tier gear. It's somewhere in the middle. It is not straight forward meta, so it has some challenges to overcome. -
How Does This Build Work?
The main premise of the build is we scale a lot of our damage through Hand of Wisdom and Actions (HoWA), we convert all of our damage to cold with Call of the Brotherhood (CotB), and we scale shock magnitude to the moon, we scale crit and crit damage as well for an extra punch. Stormweaver allows us to do a couple things. We can shock targets twice and all damage can shock. This means our big cold hits are perma freezing and doing two huge shocks. Stormweaver also has the added benefit of allowing exposure to apply 20% increased reduction. We stack a lot of spirit, so we have options when it comes to passive effects outside of the heralds/triggers. Defensive layers are acrobatics, freezing, and okay-ish ES on top of our life. -
Video Clips
Sorry for the low effort, but it should get the point across.

Pros
Satisfying and fast clear, really good single target damage, two 100%+ shocks, perma freeze everything, big crits, decent movement speed, has a TON more scaling potential than I have time to give it. -
Cons
The build is squishy until you get a 50-60% acrobatics and 700-800 ES. Suffix pressure makes resistances hard to cap while min/maxing Int/Dex. Mana can be an issue, especially if you are nuking bosses. Int stacking and Stormweaver help overcome some of it. If I was a few levels higher, I could take more mana regen nodes and less mana cost nodes. The build is trying to do a lot, and it does it for the most part. Stacking shock, crit, attributes, while taking care of everything else is tight. -

Jewels - Dealers choice. I like shock magnitude + ailment magnitude (both can roll on one jewel) with whatever other affixes you can get. Quiver bonus is really strong as well. -
Closing Thoughts
This is a really enjoyable build to play that has a lot more potential than I'm giving it. It's scales to the moon, so your always enjoying grinding for better gear (I'm not a fan of builds that just end in gearing early on). Please ask me any questions you have or provide any additional insights you might have to improve things!
Comments
What's your skill gem set up? It doesn't show up on mobalytics for me.
I was just looking for your comment earlier this morning. Glad to see you posted it!
I was just cooking up something pretty similar last night. I was intending on focusing energy shield rather than evasion, but I can see the benefit of it if you can get enough to utilize acrobatics and potentially Ghost Dance.
How is your crit rate using the crit nodes and eye of winter? The one issue I was trying to solve first and foremost was single target damage. Tornado does not seem to be as useful as it sounds on paper.
Hey everyone. This is for all you looking for something that isn't completely cookie cutter meta. Yea, it plays like a bow build and stacks some attributes, but with some twists.
Let me know if anyone has any questions or feedback on it!
This is a nice use of a bow on a class no one expects to use a bow. It is a good build that adds value to the community.
Haters can go back to the main sub.
I think getting a GG quiver and going widowhail might bring you a lot more. With the 80% in the tree and enough jewels, you could get 400% or maybe even 500% quiver stats with good investment.
Quiver can roll 25+ AS, 30 dex, 50 inc bow skill dmg, 40% proj speed (which turns into dmg with the tree), and +2 to skill level. If I'm not mistaken it becomes 125 AS, 120 dex, 360% inc dmg, +10 skill lvl.
Of course finding a quiver that good is too hard but still, I'm pretty sure this is the best way to set it up.
Would you recommend this as you’re leveling? Or do something else entirely until you hit that point to transition to this build
Oh look another Stormweaver build, sigh…
I’m clearing t15’s as a fireball/frostwall chrono but I think I’m pushed to the max on him. Just want little better boss damage….
