A single portal for big investment encounters feels terrible.

The mix of some of them being very expensive to run and only having one portal makes it extremely hard to learn those fight and it's such a moral killer.

I'll take myself as an example. I'm not a fan of 1 portal even for maps, but i got my character to 90 and clearing t15 with lots of mods feels very comfortable. My witchhunter is not the most tanky, so w/e my concentration isnt there i die from time to time, but honestly other than that it's smooth.

I've grinded quite a bit to get my first breachstone, like several hours aiming for maps with breach. Tried the boss, failed my very first roll and died instantly. It's not the first boss i've failed in POE, it always strings and leaves a bitter taste, but in POE2 it's more awkward. Of course dying is my fault, but with 1 portal leaves very little room to learn the boss. I cant say i look forward grinding breach for hours to try the fight again, as my first attempt was so short, i dont feel like i've learned any insight into what i need to do to kill the boss.

At least when i used to fail expensive to run bosses in poe1, i always felt using all my portals gave me enough time to get an idea of what i did wrong.

I really hope those bosses are either made much shorter to grind or players are given some kind of leeway. Currently if you fail early into the fight you dont learn anything and it's such a slog grinding to do it again. Maybe a full reset of hp, but multiple tries would be a compromise to give the players more opportunities to learn.

  • it's even more annoying that my map juice is kneecapped because the little progression we can have in the atlas tree is gated being those

Nothing to add I agree, bosses that have a high cost to try should not empty your bank in 1 second on an attack you have never seen before. I Don't care if it reset the boss hp and everything let us learn thw fight without paying 10 div to do so

Yeah I was looking forward to endgame bosses but seeing that it costs over 100ex for a single attempt at one is incredibly discouraging. We're talking hours if not days of farming for one attempt. That's insane.

100% agree and, when I get my breachstone, if this isn't changed, I'm going straight to YouTube to watch and memorize the fight beforehand. That the game incentivizes this behavior is just bad design.

Had a first time PoE playing friend drop a King in the Mists invite, he didn't know what it was, used it, died instantly.

I told him how much it is worth and he quit.

Yeah it's currently in a rough place. Due to the fact that we don't have as much control over how frequently we encounter the content in question, it would be rough to recoup losses - nevermind to just learn.

If they want to keep the concept of punishing deaths, I wonder if there couldn't be a compromise where the bosses drop less if you've died to them, but you can still push through and finish them. There's an incentive to do so perfectly, but those trying to learn them or just get the tree points can push through.

When is it my turn to make this post?

I hope this is part of the early access iterations. I won’t be doing all that content until then
