Ranger or sorcerer with quarterstaff? Who has better fitting ascension for it?
I want second character but playing man/male feels weird so would ranger or sorcerer fit better for quaterstaff? I already have witch with sceptre and shield.

Iβd say Ranger - closer to all the quarterstaves nodes on skill tree. Also the higher tier items require more dex than int, and you have almost no use for dex on sorcerer.
Ranger is closer to the monk area, so it would make more sense. But it depends on the kind of build which would or wouldn't work depending on the ascendancy
sorc's chronomancer is essentially pure defense, might work out fine?

Im playing flicker strike/ice strike chronomancer and its a blast. The staff skills naturally provide insane damage, so from your ascendancy and passive tree you want defenses. Kinda depends if you want to go cold or lightning. Cold is closer to Sorc, lightning and poison are closer to ranger. I still think chronos defenses are better than anything you can get from ranger
A lot of people are saying ranger, but it's not a great option honestly. With deadeye, you can't take the proj nodes and galewind falls off each time you get hit which happens more if you're melee. And frenzy nodes are pointless. If you go sorc instead, you'd be able to maybe do some funky shenanigans with cast on crit or doing weapon swapping between quarterstaff and staff for example, making storm weaver way better.
Ranger will feel much nicer because of tailwind. 30% skill speed and 10% movement speed is the best ascendancy node in the game. The defensive node behind it is also up to 40% flat damage reduction. Paired with evasion and ES, itβs one of the better defensive ascendancies also.
Deadeye is probably a little overtuned for now.
