PSA: If you message someone to buy something and they raise the price on you, DO NOT BUY! Probably a scammer.
There are a lot of people putting items up for 1 Augmentation, so it shows up before Divine Orbs, and so you message them and then they say "oh the price is actually 50 exalted orbs". Instead of being like "oh that's still cheaper than a divine -- I'll take it!", change the currency you search for to exalted orbs instead. The default list isn't showing things in order properly and people are taking advantage of that and trying to scam.
There are also people trying to scam with the currency-to-currency exchange, putting low prices and then raising it once you message them. Don't EVER pay more for something than what they have it listed for as it's probably a scam and the low price was put to bait you! When in doubt, just use Alva's currency exchange in-game, or at the very least, check it for prices!

it would be nice if GGG made a scammers league. If you get caught multiple times, your toon gets moved into it and it is just full of scammers trying to pull one on each other.
Pretty poor PSA. The majority of the time this happens it's "oh fuck i put this item in my 5ex tab and I've suddenly been messaged by 20 people, guess it's super underpriced".
PSA: Take due diligence in trading. Double check items, quantities of items, and do not take item for item deals.
ALSO DOUBLE CHECK CURRENCY TYPE AND AMOUNT IN TRADE WINDOW
Scammers will often try to put up exalts in place of divs, for example. Essentially, hoping you won’t notice if you just glance at the currency dropped in, thinking that feels like the correct type or amount.
Honestly ive put up items for1-2 exalt and got spammed with messages so i raised the price. Dont see the problem with that if it still sells then the price is right.
Bro out here giving PSAs on the PoE2 sub without knowing what a dump tab is
Kinda disinformation. Every efficient mapper has one or more dump tabs (most often quad tabs) that are public and all items set to 1 ex or 1 div or something like that. Then when you get spammed after dumping your map and go into another one you know you found something good and go look and change the price to the real one. That’s not scamming, that’s just playing efficiently.
The only person in this game that can scam you is yourself. Someone not selling you something and raising the price is not a scam. If someone is trying to scam you they don't tell you anything they put the wrong item in the trade window and bank on you not checking. Priced dump tabs are a thing because grinding gear games has a design philosophy of friction when it comes to trade. It is what it is but a scam, it is not.
I whispered a dude for a wand for 1 ex, and when I partied up and initiated the trade he cancelled after I put the ex in and was like '1 div'. Was like nah I'm good lol
Wow you're really lucky to get any response at all.
Listen I'm terrible at estimating prices until I post it. Cut me some slack ok?
Just reported a guy who rose his price on me 3x today, report anyone who does this
I'm lazy, so I price everything at 100 exalted o/b/o. Gimme a price and if I like it, I'll take it.
I had a dipshit list an item for 1 div, msg him and he says no, 3 div. Told him no, 1 div like it's listed for. Then he says OK, you win, 2 div. Muted and moved on.
The item wasn't anything amazing and had been listed for hours so it wasn't like he was getting bombarded with offers. Some people are just stupid and/or greedy.
I just stop responding if they try telling me it’s a higher price now.
Put all drops in a 5ex dump tab, when a scalper msg's you it's probably a good item to regal/exalt. ??? Profit
Usually just somebody who only had their item for sale for 2 mins and already got a hit. Happened to me, I bought a unique that was priced with the lowest price uniques. Dude took a second glance at his unique and realized it was a good roll because I messaged him so soon after he posted it. He raised the price and I felt it was fair.
Tbh I kinda ripped him off cause I looked today and the only ones with that good of a roll were 3* the price.
Also ran into multiple people pricing things as 1EX to get to the top of the list and as soon as you message them they actually price check and then relist the item
And no they aren't getting 20 messages at once it's for listing that have been up hours-days
Just plain laziness and greed - this is why we just need an auction house if you list the thing for 1EX and I had to take the time to find it and message you the item should be sold to me no reason otherwise
Do not listen to this psa ,trade site aproximatates the price you listed for , try listing something for 1.1, 1.2,1.3 div and so on will show up as 1 div, ppl will msg you for 1 div ! Even if the item for example is 1.2 and you posted it for 1.2!
Sometimes I pricecheck wrong and put for sale an item for cheap then I immediately get spammed from tons of exiles. Of course I would up the price in this case. Thank to people who offer you in whisper raised price for this item even if it still lower than might be
Some bro literally invited 4 people and said „so many people messaged me, highest bid wins“ He got instablocked by all of us
More like shady and unethical sales tactics but calling it a scam is stretching it lol, ppl wanna find ways to put their product first then they get creative, did you really think something was gonna be 1 augmentation?
I will double this and say that you also shouldn't buy something for a different price than listed because it then encourages people to do exactly that even if they are not scamming. A world where we see 100000 items listed for augments, but each of them costs between 10 and 100 exalts is a shitty world
whattt
how is that a scam
I personally don't bother with 1ex items. Most of the time, they are just there, no one is actually selling them for that price. I'm on console, so if they start typing anything, I'm out. It would take me a year to respond lol so I don't even bother. We either trade immediately without further adjustments, or I'm out.
My strategy thus far is to instead spam them as they raise the price. I understand that some people are just afraid to sell and some of them are scammers so if I can annoy them at least slightly at least I won't have to deal with them once they block me and spamming them probably keeps them from causing more trouble
I remember early league one Korean guy raised an item that I wanted from 5ex to 15, each time I whispered to him, he raised it by like 3 ex. I didn't buy it and it's probably rotting in his stash.
Tbh is pretty standard if you are buying 1 or 5 ex stuff that people missprice it and get bombed. If its still a good deal I will buy it after one raise. However, there's people that have this happen to them and instead of doing their due diligence they will just create a fucking auction house and raise prices 5 or 6 times until nobody or 1 person are whispering them. After the third reraise I'm hitting the ignore button, there's a limit on how much can you waste everybody's time
i mean cutedog told people to do this to price check there items, throw them all in a cheap tab than if you get scammed price check the item.
Right click, ignore, move on. I fill my ignore list every league in poe1 lol
I really wish they would abandon their face to face trading policy. There is nothing worse in this game than having to whisper a ton of people to buy a cheap unique.
Everyone dumps their found stuff in a 1ex quad tab and pretty much never intent to actually make a trade unless they are in their hideout, bored and friendly. Heck I even stalked someone living a new character, waiting for him to get into town with /whois and he still ignored me.
Obviously you can't force people to put stuff at a price they are actually willing to trade for but a shop like the current currency exchange would solve a ton of scamming, price dumping and not answering problems while also making life better for anyone mapping.
Set up the item for the price you want it, if someone offers this price then the item is sold to them, if someone makes an offer you get a notification where you can accept or deny and that's it.
I have multiple friends who are new to Poe in general and they all absolutely hate how the trade system works. Without someone telling them they would have never know that there actually is a way to trade without using the trade channel which pretty much no one uses.
Trading currency in Poe before the currency exchange meant that you would whisper 100+ people to get to the real people who wouldn't just try to dump the price and then you had to be lucky to find someone in hideout
Not for nothing but that's like 90% of the people using the trade system right now. They all list things for 1 Exalt and then start bumping the price up each time you whisper them.
I hate the POE2 trade system with passion.
Just a question, is it fun for you to farm currency so you can buy the gear you need to play the game ?
Yesterday I had a guy pulling that one me lol. Listed item for 1EX and I whispered him and few moments later he told me the actually price is 100ex.
So I bought the item from the next person on the list :D
Also, had someone changing the price in the whisper, haven't seen that one in a while.
Regardless if they are a scammed on not it's annoying as fuck. Was eyeing a pair of boots. It was up around a day and a half. I sent an offer and the buyer upped the price. Bro you haven't sold it in over 24 hours what makes you think making it more expensive will make it more appealing?
All more reason why we need fully automated auctionhouse instead of this...
I see zero benefit for having to interact like this
What we need is a way to report players for unethical trade postings. If a player gets reported enough times it should trigger a 1-2 day soft ban.
There is also a ton of people, streamers included, who don't care and will place items in a 1 exalt tab for instance, they get spammed, place it in 10ex, get spammed, place it in 1 div, etc... Then lower tabs when noone pings. It s annoying for buyers, but makes the market self price check.
However, when I have time, my approach is to keep sendong whispers so that they hype the price to the moon and stay with their items on their laps because that small upgrade for 10ex is definitely not worth 30 div ^^
Does the Xbox version of PoE2 have the same trade system as PoE1?
I always ignore these people instantly. Over 100 on the list already.
human greed bound no limit... welp i dont bother too much for market, because it's EA after all.,
i bought fireflower like 1 div because i really try hard racked my brain for chronomancer build, hard to progress through map.. well then i go the f and bought that because.. why not? i have div in the hand and it's not like that unique gonna drop soon.
and now i feel comfortable with my build now makes everything easy for mapping and lot of ex drops...
dont know if dev gonna nerf my build soon xD
I put up an item today for ming's amethyst and didn't notice it as worth a divine orb :( So I sold it only for an exalt 😭
I mean. Im a casual player:
- Set something for 1 ex.
- Have 10 wispers in a minute.
- Check site for price. Its worth 5 ex minimum.
- Setting 6ex because i have good rolls.
- Selling for 6ex 5min later.
I am a scammer?
Idk how that's suppose to work since the moment you put in a currency filter you wont see anything sold for other currency types.
And tagging along with this, report every single person in trade chat trying to buy divines for like 30 ex scamming new players still in acts. Expose them, say begone scammer, idc. They have no place here.
No my guy if I get 50+ messages within 30 seconds of posting my item im raising the price to just a little lower than what the price is supposed to be.
That’s why I haven’t even bothered with it yet. Too much BS going on
Has a new player i been very cautios with my trades, been trying for 2 days to get a Polcirkeln ring and see few low exa and i even went to max 20 exa cause i wanted to do a certain tests but sadly im unable to get it cause 90% of the sellers based on exa are asian bots, they dont reply, they soon u wm them they change price to 4x above, i even tried to say willing to buy for 1 divine orb and they still didnt asnwer but changed to 3 times the price in divine orbs (sucks for them cause i didnt have any divine orbs idk even if they dropable).
GGG needs to fix this issues otherwise when i releases we casuals we are fucked.
The trade site is equating 1 div to like 7ex, so just give them 7ex if they up it to a divine.
Or...someone didnt know the actual value and once they get a few bites they throw it in a new price tab...
Yeah, I had someone selling jewelers at 1 alt and went oh nice I can get an early three supports, nah 2 per 1 ex, told them to put a proper listing and blocked them.
