PSA for Trading From a New Player for Those Getting Frustrated

2837

This is typically how trade goes I’ve learned:

First you will not receive a whisper as a reply from your reaching out to someone from the trade site. You will receive a party invite only. There will be little to no interaction and the vibe check is “fast and no problems”

How trade is done:

  1. Find a listing you want
  2. Copy and send Whisper. or direct whisper (if your account is not currently fucked like mine is)
  3. Wait for the party invite in your social window
  4. Join party
  5. Transport to players hideout
  6. Accept trade
  7. End transaction

I found out that it wasn’t that people weren’t responding to me, I just didn’t realize that the ‘reply’ was a party invite. Once I got the message trade has been just fine and I’ve had no issues. It’s pretty simple and not all that bad. Would I love instant buyout and a better in game market place? Sure but there are far more important things I’d rather them work on than trade rn.

People bitch about trade so much but I personally have had no real issues to speak of. Really weird that so many people are having a totally opposite experience.

I do say GL and HF a the end of trade 🙂

ANYONE DOING THIS ON CONSOLE?

Barneyinsg1

The trading system gives me fond memories of EQ1. In fact players on EQ1 goes a step further doing global price checks on the chat channel

I was one of those noobs complaining. Then I realized I think having cross play disabled was part of my issue on getting invites…

ty OP for posting this.

that being said, am I insane for not wanting to interact with the trade market? despite the SSF experience immensely lacking? I want to play a game, not click crappy social UIs to interact with a market.

the more I push into the endgame the more I feel like core components of the game are literally not made for a newer player like me. that's setting aside the lacking poe1-lite endgame, even at higher level maps. I want more experiences like the act 1 end boss 😟

Naj1901

Is this possible on console? Or are we SoL for a while?

Does the currency or item being sold have to be in your active inventory? Or will the trade allow you to search your stash at the time of transaction? (Coming from D4 it was really a pain to have to have all items on me when trading, caused delays if I had to make a stash run)

Confident-Round-41621

Waited for a guy to grab his currency in my hideout, then waited after he denied my trade request. Then he closed it twice before eventually getting his 1ex helmet on the third try.

Idk what was up but I hope his next trade isn't like that cos I don't mind but someone might ignore him for that.

I’m stuck at step 3. Never get a party invite. The items been listed for few days already. Come back a hour later to see if it’s still posted and whisper again. Nothing. Not saying all my trades went like this but I’d say 3/4 of all trade attempts.

Not working for me as my PoE 2 character isn't linked to their database for reasons, so I can't whisper.

Happy with the game except trading. Doesn't feel good if this error only appears to a few players while others have no issues trading.

Please fix it, GGG. Erveryone paid the price for early access. Now make it work for everyone.

I think trading in this game is great, I've seen a lot of people saying that it's the worst trading experience in any game, but I just don't get it, is it just because of the website ?

When you’re buying or selling:

  • if you or they are on campaign, you/they might not have access to said part of campaign. ie: if I’m still in act 3, and buying from someone who is also doing campaign and ahead of me, they’ll have to come to me. I can’t go to a town or act I don’t have access to, especially if they don’t have a h/o.

  • if someone has a best offer, do not edit the whisper. Whisper first, then whisper again with what you’re offering. Double check the price of what you’re selling if someone edits the whisper when the PM you.

  • act 3 town is absolutely shit.

  • while I understand new players might do this, as a buyer do not initiate the trade. Let the seller do it.

  • when you’re buying and selling something worth a lot, double and triple check what currency is put in the window. Scammers will be putting in exalts instead of divines, or hide them with other stacks of currency.
25 divines might be 5d and 20ex; or that ruby jewel could be one with different stats.

  • while I don’t play on console, that shit is an absolute mess to navigate.

4.5 Before portalling to them, make sure you have the correct currency

5.5 Wait for them to make Trade request. They might be dealing with others.

7.5 Leave party

8 Leave area

Also, be patient, if you message me for a trade and instantly invite me to a group. I'll decline and ignore you.

Oftentimes, I'm either mapping (possibly in a breach, a boss fight, a ritual etc) I may also be doing trials or an ultimatum.

Should be more like...

  1. Find a listing you want
  2. Grab the currency you need for trade
  3. Copy and send Whisper. or direct whisper
  4. Wait for the party invite in your social window
  5. Join party and transport to seller's hideout
  6. Wait for seller to invite you to trade
  7. Put currency in window, verify item, click accept
  8. Thank the other person! (you can right-click their name to whisper)
  9. Right click and leave group
  10. Return to your hideout/town

Mostly the same, but missing some crucial steps. Also you can find a helper app/mod like poe overlay2 (requires overwolf) to give you buttons to help facilitate some of the transaction- also to help with price-checking your own drops.
