Constantly feel like I'm doing something wrong.

Howdy ya'll,

First off I'm beginning to think that I ruined the game flow with my invoker monk, which had some awesome drops through the playthrough so I was able to fly through it. Felt good, consistently did good damage and rarely had issues.

I've tried to follow build guides for a stormweaver and two separate ranger builds and they all feel just overwhelmingly weak. I got my stormweaver to level 45 and the build was just super weak DPS, Lightning deadeye and gas arrow pathfinder can clear mobs for me relatively easy but put me up in front of a boss of an elite with decent buffs and it's like throwing pebbles against a wall damage wise.

I really think it boils down to me being a smooth brain, but I'd like to try and find out where I messed up so I can maybe go back and try them again.

Mostly running MaxRoll guides. Stormweaver was spark and firewall for so long (Lovely guide doesn't say rotation of skills no when to move on) and it felt weak af. Lightning deadeye was just Lightning arrow and lightning rod for so long (Same issue with the previous guide, no direction on skill rotation or when to change skills) and felt weak af.

Now I'm running through with a gas arrow pathfinder build and it's been alright but I've gotten to the end of act two and it's going to take me probably 45 minutes to whittle the boss down with how pathetic single-target damage is.

Does anyone know where I can follow a decently written guide that isn't just "Act 1 start with this, and the end of act 1 have all these" with no in-between?

The majority of player power is found in gear and not the skill tree. If you are having damage problems it is likely related to your weapon. Unfortunately these build guides rarely tell you how to properly gear as you level.

You could find good weapons on the Trade website. Otherwise be sure you have the latest weapon base for your level, with sockets/Iron runes, 20 % quality, and high rolled damage mods.

Can't speak for all builds but I've played a lot of gas arrow deadeye and with the unique helmet(radiant grief) I think it's called the helmet puts almost a screenwide ignite aura around you and blows up the gas arrow poison cloud. blasted though the acts and into t15 maps with zero issue in ssf.

I've seen many versions of this build but I would recommend venturas on maxroll.

If damage is your issue get a dual strike bow (think it's called that, the one that gives you a extra proj) and just the highest pdps you can find or afford.

If surviving is a issue link blind to wind dancer, cap out resists, get some life on hit, don't take acro until you have over 17k evasion.

I'm 85 at with capped resists, 30 chaos resists, with all the stuff I said above and I feel really good and damage never been a issue.

For LA deadeye you don't use lightning rod + LA for bosses. You should use orb of storm and then spam lightning rod on top of it. Big difference in single target damage. Once you get to lategame, start building towards CoS + Ball lightning

If you are looking at maxroll guides, there is a big difference between a community guide and a maxroll certified guide. They do not guarantee quality of community guides, anyone can post those.

Biggest issue I found was getting the hang of crafting… if you’re feeling weak it’s probably a gear check…

I know for me getting second ascendancy for my pathfinder was the big power spike around level 40…

Then I was doing decent damage but couldn’t really take a hit…

Then I started trolling and built a Tank Melee Pathfinder 🤷‍♂️…

Are you popping the gas with an ignite or anything?
