Difference in builds for sorcerer

21

I've noticed two trendy builds recently: Cold Snap Frostbolt Stormweaver and Archmage Spark Stormweaver. Can someone break down the pros and cons of each build?

I was initially leaning toward the Frost build, but after watching endgame videos, it feels quite slow. You have to wait for projectiles to travel and reach mobs before detonating them, which seems inefficient. Am I missing something? Does this build shine more in boss encounters or specific scenarios compared to the Spark build?

On the other hand, the Spark build looks much faster in terms of clear speed and overall gameplay fluidity. Could someone explain the trade-offs between these builds in terms of performance, playstyle, and endgame potential?

I'm trying to decide, so any insights would be greatly appreciated!

Spark is faster, more expensive but a bit more boring imo. Cold was fun leveling but didn’t feel as good in maps at low gear.

I leveled frost until maps and I felt like frost was basically slower, but has more ability to keep enemies out, whereas spark scales a little better. Respeccing is relatively cheap so don't feel like you have to make a hard decision one way or another and just try both out.

Is frostbolt trending recently? All I see is different variants of spark, for a good reason ofc (other ele spells aren't very good).

Cold Snap Frostbolt Stormweaver

Trending where? This is honestly the first I've heard of anyone playing it and I'm skeptical that it's a serious build. I tried looking for it on youtube and only found a few videos from like 3 weeks ago that look pretty terrible. I don't think anyone is seriously using Frost Bolt + Cold Snap after Act 2.

The only endgame cold sorceress builds I've seen are either some variant of Frost Wall or Cast on Crit / Cast on Minion Death Comet.

Anyway to answer your question Spark Archmage is by far the better build, frankly it's the best build in the game at the moment. The only downside to it is it will very likely be nerfed in the future.
