ED/Contagion (Gem level help)
Im playing a demon form ED/Contagion build and running into mana issues as is the custom with all the +skill levels. My question is there a reason to level up Contagion? It seems like it only affects the damage of contagion which doesnt matter i assume, ed is the dmg, contagion is just the means of spreading it? Also doesnt seem like spread radius is affected by leveling contagion as it did in poe1. So I leveled it up to 14, ran into issues, now have a contagion back down at lvl10 (before +skill levels from demon form) and it feels much better. Is there a reason i wouldnt just leave contagion at lvl 1? Quality seems to matter ofc because the spread damage increase. Again just trying to understand why i wouldnt just leave it at lvl 1?

I also came to this conclusion. I have been lazy to swap to a level 1 because I don't currently have mana issues but it makes a lot of sense. The radius doesn't scale. Just damage and mana cost and the damage is pitiful lol.
Depends what you actually need contagion to do. If you are just using it to spread debuffs and chaos dot dmg like ED, then you could leave it low LVL to save on mana. But I find the dmg actually ramps pretty well once it spreads, and I'm already boosting investing in spell and chaos damage boosts for ED. Also, I tend to only cast it once or twice per pack, so I'm not too worried about mana cost.
