why are breach splinters not auto-pickup like gold?

i'm sure i'm not the first to ask the question in the long POE history, but i'm still a new player and I don't understand why cleaning up after a breach must take 10 minutes to pick up all them damn splinters over a huge area. Who would ever not want to pick up splinters? why are things like splinters not treated like gold and auto picked when walking over?

I love breaches, they are fast and loot explodes all over, but when I get to a "lucky" map with 5+ breaches in one map I start to get tired instead of happy, just because i know it will be a super long boring click-fest to clean up all that loot after...

simplest QOL ever, just autopick splinters?

Why anything stackable that you already have in your inventory isn't auto-pickup?

It's actually not unreasonable at all for people to not pick up splinters, 1/5 ex is already borderline not worth for some people.

You have to pick up anything that's not account bound.

That said breach loot should just drop together at the end, like alva/delirium. Splinters should drop in a stack.

Yes please, the backtracking not only sucks but also my tendon sheath would really appreciate not having to click 35 additional times per breach. I don’t think anyone who farms breaches or splinters would NOT want to pick them up, so please, please make them autocollect.

To trick you into attempting to pick up the loot while the breach is running, and die because you fell for the age-old on-death explosion under the loot text.

Also you're not necessarily alone in the party, and want to just let some other party member do all the picking up sometimes

Because gold isn't tradeable and splinters are. If they make splinters autopickup then you open up arguments for everything to be autopick up. Nope, have to interact with the game manually.

You know what's funny? PoE1/2 are here just doing so much frustrating stuff all the time. Other games don't. Even Last Epoch is getting rid of some of the last annoying stuff players wanted changed for their next cycle. LE is just so much more chill to play.

yes pickup everything for me stash it and give me a excel file with all the loot i got and their value and sell the ones i dont need to buy bis items for all my slots

splinters should simply drop on the breach close in a stack, this qol is not the first time this has been mentioned and likely won't be the last

Any currency or fragments should be auto pickup IMHO.

I could even accept that pets have a pickup ability so they would actually be useful, even though it sounds P2W (like stash tabs and other mtx though).

OOC: How the hell do you guys loot 10 breaches map? Hell, even 5+ breach maps.

Not enough portals to get every Expert Yellow even, not mentioning the thrash uniques which only equals 1 chance shard but it is a pain to leave them on the ground.

i wish we had the last epoch system where when you click one piece of currency, ALL nearby currency gets picked up. So much nicer to be able to do it in one click.

Because GGG thinks manually picking up everything is good for the game. They are obviously wrong, but sadly, there is no another hyped ARPG on the horizon, so it's unlikely for us to get another QoL update to the core systems.

I think you guys try to simplify what might be a monster behind the scenes. Its not only auto-pickup, I can imagine the bunch of problems that this might cause, gold is stackable to infinite OUTSIDE your inventory.

Auto pickup for tradeable items is not something, that GGG wants to implement. There are reasons, but they are highly polarising. So I will address something else: if you autopick loot, you have no agency what to loot and what not. This creates a cascade of problems and pricey (resources, game design) solutions for those. So they draw the line and stick to it.

Nevertheless adding more clustered loot would be preferable. No question.

Way too many people in this thread, including OP, that don’t understand why this works in PoE.

I’ll readily admit that picking up single splinters is annoying, but it’s a purposeful decision to make them drop that way - it actually helps the economy significantly.

They are 100% not worth picking up for any player that is at that point of juicing their maps. Too many people in this thread are picking up far too much shit in their maps.

You need a better loot filter. Single splinters, regals, augs, transmutes, all armor bases, all hybrid armor bases, half of all weapon bases, all blues, all whites with 5 exceptions, all maps under t15 - those should all be off your filter. You will make much more currency focusing on higher quality drops than little shitter drops that take up more time.

Quick explanation: Can you sell it? You have to pick it up. You can't sell it? It Is autopickup.

If we're to talk about QoL, Dont forget aswell that the Invite player UI is a mess. Its straight over the chat bar which makes inviting players to your party tedious af, trying to find the tiny spot where you're clicking the ui and not the chatbox.

Because GGG enjoys the idea of people playing in groups and griefing by letting one player loot everything. The default loot type is "Short Allocation". Meaning after only a couple seconds it's free game. This gets people to rush in after an elite/boss dies, and right into the death effects.

Auto loot is only for gold because it's a non-tradeable resource anyways.

Personally, I'd love for auto loot to be a flag that is enabled in the loot filter for anything and everything if you so choose.

Because gold isn’t an actual item. That’s why in party play you have seperate instances of gold as well. Maybe they should make splinters not actual items and inventory tokens. Then when you get a full one the item appears in inventory ? But that’s the answer to why not, same shit in d4. Honestly the best thing is just have them drop all at once when breach closes

It's stupid that technology is already there when you run breachstone. Just give all loot after Breach. Running near chests during 20 fps content is also ain't a good time. Regardless, this is an asset flip of poe1 without anything new so how could you expect an actual innovation

GGG has very anti-QoL design philosophies. They have started taking steps to fix this in the last few years, but they still have over 10 years of development and bias to correct. Its also probably the lowest priority for them right now given the state of EA.
