Theory craft minion build with Gemling Legionnaire
The Unique 2 handed mace Chober Chaber gives you 50 spirit and allows all minion damage increases to go to your character as well. Combined with the Giants Blood perk on the passive tree allowing 2 handed maces to be wielded in one hand. You could get this in your main hand and allow you to use a scepter in the other.
It requires 100int minimum to use the mace but I believe Giants blood makes the requirements go up to 300. On gemling legionnaire this isn't an issue because your ascendancy allows you to get a lot of attributes anyways. But if you were to speck into the basic Energy shield minion boosting passives and get appropriate spirit gear I could imagine a build like this theoretically being extremely strong. Any thoughts on the viabilities of said build?

You could also use the Vertex helm to satisfy the int requirement without having to go Gemling.
So there are a lot of issues with Gemling minion builds that I think make this impractical. I'll lay em out:
First and most obviously trenchtimbre exists and if you want to go shieldless, it requires no effort or skill points at all to build around. So chober already has a big hill to climb.
Second, the pathing on gemling is already brutal on your skill points without detouring for giants blood. You use almost 50 skill points just getting to the minion damage nodes on the tree.
Third, you only get like 300-350% minion damage on the tree. That's not even all that much damage for a good build. You can literally roll a wand with 150% increased damage BY ITSELF. That's before even looking at all the increased damage on the tree for most builds.
So in reality here you are playing a suboptimal class, losing 3 minion levels, investing a ton of effort into wielding this mace, and the payoff is... 100% more increased damage than a good wand would get, and you're missing the 4-5 levels you would normally get from a mainhand weapon for spellcasting.
It just makes no sense.
The mace transfer only minion damage not ES
The issue is what are you going to do with your character using a 200 dps mace and some increased damage? It's just too small a number to matter.
