Worst decision i made in the game: Choosing Witch Hunter over Gemling.

I mean if you can clear maps and endgame easily, does it really matter you've hit a plateau? Some builds are always going to be stronger

The game needs to be rebalanced in order for Witch Hunter to shine. Initially it was pitched as the boss killer. Culling strike and Decimating strike combining to make deletion of big health pools feel good. The issue is that in the games current state there are several builds that will just delete bosses instantly. Like they had to patch Arbiter to stop him from insta dying before he got to make you play DDR.

I think once some of the classes power levels creep down Witch Hunter will have a chance to shine more in its specialization. I think the Mercenary class as a whole could use some tuning up with QOL buffs around things like reloading etc.

I'm sure GGG knows all this and I'm excited to see what their next big content patch does to mix things up. It also seemed like from their previous big interview that they are open to allowing folks to change ascendancy. (Personally I think they should)

Like others have said if you are having fun its no big deal and as I have found with some of my builds that have plateaued I would say dive back into the campaign and leveling another character its really fun and the best parts of POE2 currently. =)

Some classes are actually not fun or are broken. This game rejects experimentation. Roll a new character.

Well there may not be for this server. This may be the non league server. If it is the league server then it's a start from scratch. Nothing found is carried over.

If you have not played poe 1 give it a go it's fantastic and it will give you idea of what the league system is.

Yeah,  I'm kind of wishing I'd taken the hint and gone gemling. Are you using the  two sorc ward ascendancies and the witch bane/no mercy combo that seems like a bossing thing? Not just pinnacle, I mean any time you have a rare or unique

I started my gemling 4 days ago, now I'm 92. (about 20h of play) Ask some friend to help you with waypoints and bosses and you can get through campaign pretty fast. I yesterday carried my other friend from start do end of the cruel in 2h, he was 20 lv endgame character though and had to manually exp but it still was faster than normal.

I feel the same! I’m leveling a gemling now 😆 Glad to have Havoc’s twink mercenary speed leveling guide.

It takes like 6 hours to beat the campaign and relevel to 90 as gemling with xp boosters, I’m sure you have the currency at 93. Besides, gemling is extreme overkill lol my 100d gemling was so strong it made me take a break from the game because I felt that upgrades were meaningless cause I could already kill everything but bosses in one hit. So does it matter?

Honestly dont feel bad, i play a level 92 gemling with self found gear and im not really paying any attention to meta, guides or broken builds. I very slowly clear t15 and 16 maps while playing around the different mob and boss mechanics to the best of my abilities and the skills i have on hand, and im loving it. I try differet builds all the time and learn different playstyles, currently my favorite is trapping mobs in ice walls and blowing them up with fragmentation rounds and cast on freeze. Its not super effective and i cant run through maps while everything dies around me, hell I cant even beat most of the bosses because i havent focused on ES at all, i dodge roll amd blink to avoid damage. My point is this; if you want to focus on clearing faster then its probably best to reroll, if you like your class and want to improve then get creative and try new stuff, buy new gear, swap builds and dont give up. I honestly wish i picked witch hunter because zealous inquisition looks like it would fit really well with most of the bolting builds I like, the shield looks handy too. And lets be honest, the superbroken meta builds are most likely going to be nerfed and witch hunter and others who struggle will probably see a boost. when that time comes and if it will happen before a reset I cant say, but you will atleast know your class better than most. I would also like to say that you shouldnt compare your fun to other peoples clear speed or class strenght, just do what YOU want and play the way you want.

I love my witch hunter. Clear speed is amazing by far better then my sorc or deadeye. Bossing takes a second as I can't one shot but I've never had any issue with any content so far

Same happened to me with chronomancer, clearing maps sucks, I just made another sorc and went stormweaver

the gear is like 90% of your power and it'll take like a week to hit 80 on a gemling, at least leveling the new character will be something to do

I did the exact same thing, opting for something that’s not meta. I wanted to learn the game and not follow the trend and become OP. But when I relooked into the ascendancy points difference! Damn man did I change my mind. (I was dying alot with witchhunter in T15-16 maps at level 90) I am now in act 3 cruel with Monk Invoker :). Planning to strip that useless guy of all the gear and equip it on the monk and never look back.

I think it would be great to be able to switch ascendancy, just so we can mess about with build ideas.

This is me but with infernalist instead of bloodmage. I lvled infernalist thinking demon form hexblast is gonna be good, i mean it is good i guess, but it needs more management than what i thought. Dropped her and building autobomber bloodmage now instead.

Gemling doesnt have twice the strength with same gear / passives. Its what? 6%?

For the record, every build looks at Gemling stat stacker and realizes it would be a better version of their build

You can't change for exactly that reason. You played the league on a non-optimal choice and thats fine. You dont have the opportunity to just switch to whatever ends up being the best without re-levelling.

But, if you want re-levelling is super fast.

Sorcery Ward has been more impactful for me than all the offensive abilities. It's nice to have training wheels of a 2k+ elemental damage shield. I don't see why one can't enjoy this.

Same here, still managed to finish endgame content thanks to HoWA and other strong gear. Instead of lvling a gemling now I would wait until reset.

I hear you brother. I leveled a titan at first, switched to gemling and it's way better. Maces on gemling vs Titan aren't even close.

I would love to be able to swap asecdnency please GGG if you're reading please implement this. many games let you change your sub classes.

you can just level a new class in 2-3 days to 90, the trick is to have a little budget to buy decent gear and using good uniques for leveling.

When you end the campaign you just run white maps high level and you will get to 80-90 really quick.

My unique recommendation is the felt cap unique 30-35 all res and the body armor with 10% mov speed, also there are boots with 20-27% mov speed for early leveling.

Funny thing is, it's really only one node that is making gemling feel so good.

Rest of the nodes are nice, but many other ascendancies have better.

That was me 2 days ago, now im blasting through maps with a lvl 90 gemling. Was busy also these past 2 days so I've spent probably 7 hours ish getting to maps with some nice uniques

Gemling wouldnt have double the attributes though. They get double the inherent bonuses, so how would they have double the attributes with the same gear?

I have both a gemling and a witch hunter. The witch hunter running crossbow explosions and poison is just as fun, just a different feel from my gemling.

I played witch hunter first. Worst class in game.

I would say that I think they are going to make it so you can change it but I think that will be after the reset so does not help.

I am a witch hunter with sorcery ward, and concentration ascendancy.

I run 2h giants blood with shield + stun/seismic shout/hotg build. Herald of ice for clear. Basic gameplay is whack shit with mace strike, on bosses whack them till they are stunned (which is fast with the correct passives and skill gems), explode them with seismic shout + hotg combo. If bosses survive that they are usually a few auto attacks away from death.

Level 93 and I absolutely clap all content, I don't know how it could be faster other than more movement speed/blink type abilities. 2h mace herald of ice oneshots entire screens, seismic shout hotg usually one shots level 4 bosses.

I basically roam map and farm citadel bosses for income. It's quite fun.

I'm sure some Uber expensive builds are better, but literally most content feels trivial. The only times I die are when I am being a complete idiot/zone out from the game during longer sessions

I have a toon that's lvl 91 sorc, and started a new one. gemling, and man night and day. My gemling does 750k DPS, low side and lvl 97. Got lucky and chanced an Astramentis using 26 stellar.

I played DE and picked +5attri buff instead of chaos res and it always haunts me whenever I open "C" that at some point I just started over the class.

I was just lucky choosing gemling, stopped playing it because grenadier sucked and leveled a infernalist to 93, and with the divines from farming with him i picked up my gemling and made myself a stat stacking gem.

You could make a gemling. I have a pconc character but wanted to try shattering so I made a second pathfinder. I was 85 in 3 days of pretty casual playing at night and lunch breaks.

Fellow 93 witch hunter and feel your pain. I'm running a 3 dragons explosive/shockburst build. I can clear t18s and have done most pinnacles etc but it feels shit to see that 1 click could've made things so much better for QoL and there's no going back. And I really really cbf redoing the campaign on the same class lol. Also the ridiculous levels of currency required to change out and be meta whilst trying to sell shit to make back some div's on the nightmarish trade setup. I wish I could just have my shit listed for sale when I wasn't online fml.

You can level a new merc and go gemling. There’s some twink levelling guides for pillar builds and they can be relatively cheap to get the start gear for it. I just levelled gemling for stat stacker a week ago or so and I finished campaign in 6 hours. Kept the gear I used set aside, and now I’m levelling a witch hunter because crossbows is one of the things I haven’t played yet, and using the same gear just have to do my passives differently.

Level idk i forgot, finished AC3, we to do some maps, cried a lot, shelved it and im not working on a Gas Arrow Dead Eye build. I think my Warrior (Warbringer) needs a load of expensive gear to potentially be working and/or I need to do a whole Passive Tree rework. I have been following Woolies pre Giants Blood build and its had its ups and downs but yeah, I think new gear set is in need which I am thinking is gonna be a lot of Divines sadly - I say as ive only got like 20ex to my name and im AC1 with my Deadeye :L

Dont worry I picked pathfinder over deadeye…….. first time playing poe dont roast me guys…. But having a blast now with stormweaver

I like witch Hunter over gemling. Sorcery ward (even with the terrible reduction) is underrated.

Do you mean double the life? Gemling has no innate ability to get more str, they just scale better on it. You can get just as much str on witch hunter
