Spark Archmage Scaling

11

I am sitting at 50k DPS sheet damage on 5k mana doing T15 comfortably. The sum total of upgrades thus far are less than 2d. So, this is the good-enough rare gear with Everlasting Gaze providing defense. I am on L21 Archmage and L19+1 corrupted Spark gem. The tree is the bog standard CaptainLance style.

The way I see it, there is another 1k extra mana to be had by upgrading my rare gear to have near max ES, flat mana, and Int. That is around 20% improvement, taking sheet damage to 60k at best. Better jewels with better crit scaling might bring it up another 15%, bringing it up to 70k.

The only way to see 100k sheet damage is to drop Everlasting Gaze and pick up +3 amulet. Is that how it is? How do people tank end game contents with only 6k eHP through MOM and 6k mana pool?

I don't have mom or eb, I have 7k energy shield and ci.

+3 amulet with spirit and mana is the way.

Cast on shock lightning conduit is key for bossing, no need to drop everlasting gaze.

You don't tank end game content, you just boost your dps and kill them before they hit you. Can't really tell what you need without seeing your pob though.

4.5k mana with 100k dps here… everlasting gaze is holding you back… I rarely die while mapping some bosses get dicey but I blaze through them pretty quick so it’s a non issue… while your probably thinking pfft what’s another 50k dps I’m already at 50k… look at as if your doubling your damage output because you essentially will be and that damage output drives up you survival chances immensely

You have way too little mana. Sheet dps doesn’t necessarily mean a whole ton. For bossing all your damage is coming from CoS lightning conduit. Get a 60 spirit amulet and 5 socket attribute/mana morior. At 13k mana/950 int my conduit has an average hit of 15m.

What jewels do you run on spark? I always have issues knowing what jewels to go for as it usually is pretty fuzzy on guides

Once you have 6k mana and a TON of mana regen, you basically have a decent hp buffer as long as you don't OOM yourself spamming Spark. Really, the real defence at that point is having an additional +3 spell levels and a ton of other stats in a Rare amulet so you do so much damage that everything dies before it can hit you.

Also consider what your Shock Magnitude is. Bossing DPS is just as reliant on how much your Lightning Conduit can output.

I just redid my spark sorc to a crit build. I’m halfway finished and I’m still using everlasting gaze.. my tooltip when in hideout says 150k. This was with very minimal upgrades and swaps.. I’m also missing + skills on the focus, and only have +4 on the wand. I would guess you have a lot of gear slots that aren’t as optimized as you think.

I have around 120k sheet Dps using a hybrid of mattjestics and captain lances build. More cast speed.. spent maybe 5 div on each piece and 15 on the wand.. you can respec to shock magnitude when you’re doing a pinnacle Boss, but 95% of the time you won’t need to.. I think I only need to for arbiter and, for me, it’s been more profitable to sell the fragments

I had way over 1m+ spark damage on my build with conduit one shotting everything in the game. It's very expensive and only mana but in every way a lot stronger. With rarity shield 10k+ mana. Tree is 95% jewel + travel nodes and you kinda need dreamfrags.

You can check Squishy in YouTube for ideas. Something to aim for.

Small tip coming from a Spark user that's been just where you are about a week ago : get the Melting Maelstrom flask before you upgrade to CoS Lightning Conduit.

With MoM that Flask is essentially extra lives as long as you can tank a hit, and CoS will drain your mana extremely fast so it's also sort of extra damage. Got a decent one for 5d, you can get a cheap one if you just want the basic effect since the roll doesn't change it.

I dont like everlasting gaze. FEel way better going with ghostwrite.

6k energy shield with 5k mana eldirch battery fine for end game bosses.

The no gaze version of the build absolutely does more dps than the gaze version, I could double my dps with a half assed switch off gaze. However you can easily scale you damage way higher even while still using gaze. You are completely underestimating the dps increase you can get from gear upgrades. Your wand is probably very easily upgraded, same for your focus. A +5 wand with cast speed and a good spell damage roll is a huge upgrade, same as a focus with +2 gems cast speed and a spell damage roll. Considering you said you spent less than 2ds on your character I am pretty sure good jewels would be more than a 15% dps increase as well. There are also upgrades like high cast speed rings and ingenuity. I have 170k ingame spark dps with gaze and most of my gear is between 1(gloves and some jewels) to 25 divines(wand and ingenuity) each. But yeah if you just really want to pump damage you can drop gaze for a damage amulet.

This is one of my older PoBs before I dropped everlasting gaze, with a 140k tooltip. https://maxroll.gg/poe2/pob/t81b20yl

97 Sparkweaver with 350k tooltip DPS and 0 crit nodes here:

  • You have 5k mana, this is the time where you need to drop Everlasting gaze. Extra ES is nice, BUT you get tons of survivability from more damage/mana and Everlasting gaze eats one of the best slots for getting damage + usually you need to have some passive tree investment which can be further invested into damage/qol/mana. Don't forget to anoint it (Heavy ammunition is pretty cheap)
  • If you still using shield - drop and use focus instead, prioritize getting +2 focus, but might be a bit more expensive. Free up any nodes on the tree that are invested into blocking and stuff.
  • Ingenuity and rings should be priority after that, getting 60+ ingenuity can be pretty cheap right now (~2 div)
  • With all the passive points that are freed-up you need to look to capture a few critical skills on the tree: CI, MoM, EB + Pure power + Lightning quick + Arcane intensity + Wild Storm(!!!)
  • After that I think next step is to gradually improve your gear all around and priority list goes like that: Res cap > lvl to spell/lightning skills > %max mana > max mana > cast speed > int > raw es > spell/lightning damage damage > mana regen/mana on kill > anything else
  • With more currency 2 important steps need to happen: Getting 60ES body armor or 60ES amulet and invest this spirit into Cast on Shock and Anointing amulet for Lightning rod.
  • After that I think you will start to need 5+div for any upgrade. First one being Manastorm Mana flask

How do people tank end game contents with only 6k eHP through MOM and 6k mana pool?

The trick is that you don't. Only way to go through late game content is to kill it before it can do anything (I killed T4 Arbiter 30+ times and I don't know any of his abilities). Unless you can stack 25K+ ES you not going to tank anything in the late game, it is just easier and cheaper to build to kill everything in sight before it can get to you. Ultimate defense is to be alone in 2 screen radius.

CI will protect you from random one shots in 50% of the time as you can just ignore all the purple shit and 75% res cap will help to tank occasional damage.

I only have 6k mana and I carried a t3 simu easy last night and very rarely die in maps, I'm actually thinking of dropping down to about 5k mana for mapping to boost rarity from 150 to 250 for fun and see if it's even a noticeable difference lol

+3 skills is a huge boost to dps but you can also look for a +2 proj skill ammy since you're on a budget and ingenuity is also a really nice upgrade for 3-4 divs and upgrading wand/focus/jewels can get expensive but boosts damage a lot
