5 simple tips to improve early Trial of Sekhemas success rate

1538

The Trial of Sekhemas are difficult in the beginning, sometimes it screws you over but most of the time you screw yourself. What follows are 5 things I think can help improve your success rate.

  1. The most important one, the affliction you can choose is always better than the one you can not. Avoid “random afflictions” and anything that prevents you from being able to see what coming afflictions are.

  2. The same is true for boons, the boons you can choose are better than a random one. So if the choice is between a random Boon or Balbala, pick Balbala.

  3. Plan ahead! You don't really need the ability to see more rooms ahead (although it will make planning easier), what's important is to keep your options open. Try to avoid rooms with only one exit arrow unless you know what the room after is.

  4. Your first Djinn Braya is the most important one! You can try as many times as you like without it being consumed. Use this to get a couple of helpful relics (I like %maximum honour and %honour resist) and find what trials suits your playstyle and build the best.

  5. You do not have to take room rewards. This is especially useful if the Pledge of Kochai gives you poop options or you are forced to take the maraketh shrine which restored a large amount of honour in exchange for a random affliction. This took me waaaay too long to realise and made things alot easier once I figured it out.

The trials do screw you over sometimes but following these four things I have found that I can reliably finish all my ascendancies solo with whatever build I am using and the Trials of Sekhemas have become one of my favorite area to farm.

Best of luck to you all!

Also the pledge that rewards 3 random boons and Death Toll is the best deal ever.

and NEVER take a movement speed penalty unless you can oneshot the boss

I have to disagree with the part about not being able to see the rooms ahead, not being a big deal. Unless you have the scrying orb, or the last room is your last boss, this is the equivalent of picking a random affliction.

Hopefully, I'm not being too intrusive adding onto this, but if you're doing multiple floors, get in the habit of getting sacred water a high priority. You can buy plenty of boons from the merchant either in merchant rooms AND at the end of each floor after the boss (make sure to talk to barbala). With that being said avoid anything that decreases the amount of sacred water you have.

Also for my warrior brothers & sister still wearing your heavy armor. Rejoice my brothers and sister, rejoice! That armour will contribute to your honour total, and you'll feel like a tank for the first THREE floors. I made sure to emphasize first three floors.

Floor four is where the damage scaling gets a tad scary. After floor one you'll start seeing more & more mobs shooting projectiles & some even running away from you if you get close. This only gets worse on the last floor. Take some deep breath, have some situational awareness & take your time. If I can do suk him up aka sekhema with my melee warrior then you can as well.

Dont forget... with the right relics, the trial is even a lot easier ;)

Ive run sekh hundred times, the most important tips imo is avoid GAUNTLET rooms especially in floor 2/3. I got stunlocked and died many times from the fireball traps more than i died to buffed zarokh, those traps is absolutely overtuned. Also if you have blink+frostwall, you can skip doors in the gauntlet rooms by casting frostwall near the doors then blink to the other side.

I love speed run sekema with +x meters roll distance relics, like 20min per run

I ran a unique one the first time without paying attention that it fog every room..en's up finishing the run with 12 affiliates n 1 boon lol never again

The only difficult thing I found in sekhemas is that stupid time orb pick up mechanic during the last boss fight. I died twice on that crap cause the stupid nodules spread out weirdly where blink overshot them and running was just too slow.

I still don’t understand what the point is of going back in after getting your ascendency. Please enlighten me 😅

They just aren't fun

I try to avoid doing 4 floor trials because no matter what my movement speed is, I fail the last boss and don't know why. I'm never able to reach all the balls and get the little touch of death

I would add that best relic to target is honor resistance first because this is a game changer, and then increase max hp and/or defences, because life and energy shield count for max honor calculation, as well as giving you more life, energy shield, and evasion rating.
