PathOfExile_64xSteam vs. PathOfExileSteam Executables?

I found out that there are two executables in the main game folder. When double clicking on them they both launch the game.

Has anyone done some tests to see if there is a difference in performance and which one is running when I just click play in steam?

PathOfExile_x64.exe is just a symlink to PathOfExile.exe
