Crossbow damage scaling for Artillery Ballista
I'm getting a bit confused reading some of these threads. I'm reading that the ballista ignores your crossbow damage, but does take the bonus from the tree/gear. So does getting increased damage with 2H weapons scale Artillery Ballista or no? I'm also confused why the skill menu doesn't show a DPS on the Artillery Ballista too which would be helpful in telling if it is helping or not.

Only flat damage, attack speed and crit chance mods on the crossbow are ignored. Other than that, everything else will affect ballista. Flat damage on ring or glove, level of projectile skill on crossbow, increased elemental damage with attack on crossbow, anything on skill tree... Those do affect ballista.
im running a glass cannon ballista tactician. hear's what I've learned so far:

only cross bow mods you REALLY care about are +projectile skills and elemental damage. leech/on_kill is nice.

flat damage on rings, especially phys, is great.

any damage scaling on the passive that applies to you applies to your totems

THE WIERD ONE: totems count as ALLIED but not as ALLIES. so if you get a boost for having allies then your totems also get that boost by giving it to you. however, a boost TOO your allies will not count to your totems. (so that 25% wpn phys applying to allies on the tactician ascendancy wont count....)

totems wont get any of your passive defensive scaling: ES, EVA, AMOUR, RES, etc...
All you need on ur crossbow, + to proj skills and increased ele dmg. Bonus would be reduced Attribute req. Try to get a +2 proj on amu. Increasing the quality of the gem is also good. The only thing i dont like is, you cant see shit while mapping or bossing.
