Bow Attacks fire an additional Arrow
Is there any point to this stat outside of clearing huge packs(which dont even exist)?
I see all the top most expensive bows have this stat so Im wondering about its effectiveness.
Afaik an enemy can only be hit by one projectile no matter how many you shoot so for single-target it doesnt do anything, right? The only way it would do anything for single-target is with the "chain from terrain" stat but that only goes up to 20% on the tree and 4% on jewels.
Thoughts?

It depends on the skill, it's not that uncommon for extra projectiles to give more single target, but everyone likes having extra clear too obviously
It sometime does something like with gas arrow, it allows stacking gas cloud.
Really it depends on the skill and interaction, look at what people with those bow are playing and see if there isn't an interaction that would benefit from more proj
as you noticed for clear it's just great - and clearing maps fast is basically 95% of the endgame (for most players)
but no it can also be damage improvement for solo target - some skills can shotgun (overlap their aoe effects )
for example - Stormcaller arrow if the boss/big enemy is close to the wall you can overlap the impact and its basically x3 dmg other example would be gas arrow detonation.
i agree with you chain from terrain would be an awsome stat if you could scale it easier - sadly its almost impossible to get it to 100%
Great for lightning arrow clear and single target dps
The real one to look out for is 'Bow Attacks Fire and Additional Bow"
I mean that depends on the skill
A skill that fires by default 25 arrows at a time doesn't benefit as much as the skill that fires 1 arrow at a time
For any skill that fires 1 arrow at a time that stat is literally doubling the DPS
