So, movement speed on boots?
As I'm slowly mapping my way through my atlas I noticed there is a piece of gear I keep gearing around...boots. Specifically, boots with as high MS as I can get.
Now, I know this is nothing ground-breaking, as I've seen this mentioned before, but I didn't really comprehend it until I got used to having 25% MS on some low-level boots I got in the campaign.
As I was clearing my atlast I eventually got some nice boots which really complemented my gear, raised my resistances up by a nice margin, and were overall well-rounded stat-wise. The boots just had one drawback, no MS. So I said, well to heck with it, it can't be that bad......yeeeeeeaaaah. That one stat turned the game for me from a fun little activity (1st time proper mapping in any PoE, so it's all new to me) to an unbelievable slogfest. I went back to my MS boots until I got a 30% MS drop recently, but I had to work in a lot of strength to use them.
Since then, I keep gearing myself around my MS boots. The boots are usually the last thing I'll change out, and when I do, I will almost always try and work higher MS boots into my gear before I even look at other stats.
This experience made me wonder. If MS feels like such a must-have stat, why isn't there at least an MS rune in the game? Or some other way to at least help you with the chance of getting MS out when you craft.

I still think splitting full movespeed between implicit and prefix is a good compromise, I doubt it'll happen tho..
I think the reasoning behind this is that they want a slower paced game compared to PoE1 ( is what people tell me )
A rune wouldn't make sense, it would easily get overshadowed by having more global defenses, resist or straight up stats
MS should either be added thought the campaign or some other way, but that's my opinion and I'm sure that are better ways to go about this.
But yeah, boots should be a fixed value without taking a prefix slot
lets say it like this i dont play without 35 % ms boots ASAP - and i would never remove it for better secundary stats - don't know how to fix this issue - a implicit stat would feel better but GGG likes their RNG - especially in POE2
IMO they should add implicits to some boot bases
If I donβt see MS; insta-trash. I cannot play without it. Gotta have my zoomies.
If you apply essence of haste to boots you will always get movement speed. You're welcome π
You do have to get a good roll though, of course.
A rune would have issues with balance because then you'd potentially be able to get the 35% on the boots as well, which would make some boss fights a lot easier.
