0.2.0 Volcanic Fissure/Temper Weapon Smith of Kitava Pinnacle Bossing Showcase

No Giant's Blood, no Deepest Tower, no Crit, no Strength Stacking, 1H Mace with Shield. This is as off-meta Warrior as you can get, I think.
Note: This can abuse a bug with Temper Weapon which procs on every Volcanic Fissure aftershock hit. This boosts the damage somewhere from 2-3x. Most of the video does not show this, but the bloopers at the end will have it.
Comments
Pros:
- Smith of Kitava makes for extremely easy gearing resistances and more flexibility
- 90res, 75% block makes maps cozy to Leap Slam into and greeding big Boneshatters
- Can role-play taunt in front of bosses with Temper Weapon
- Maps with a 1H Mace so it's a little bit less sluggish than normal
- Very off-meta
Cons:
- Volcanic Fissure is stationary and doesn't seem to scale with area of effect, so rares/bosses that move or heavy stun out of the fissures means you lose all damage. You will need to position and find openings to do damage and lament when things teleport out of range forcing you to setup again or dance around your hopscotch areas to lure them back in. You need to keep the same Sunder angle and direction or else you lose a lot of damage.
- Has a 4s setup from starting at 10 rage to Warcry to Volcanic Fissure to Sunder before things start ramping from aftershocks stacking alongside subsequent Sunders and further aftershocks
- Can abuse a bug with Temper Weapon that should be fixed
- This setup doesn't use Smith's white body armour Ascendancy nodes so it lacks higher end physical mitigation, life pools, and regen
- Pretty graphically intensive from Sunder dirt and rocks alongside big fiery glowing Volcanic Fissures underneath it when aftershocks start stacking. Looks cool though.
Tech used:
- Solus Ipse helmet from Arbiter. We are built around doubling several of the support gems so this build has room to evolve further in future updates or maybe even Gemling. Premeditation Support stacks on 2 different skills that empower something. Upheaval Support for both slams. I assume Enraged Cry for both Warcries stack since this is harder to test. Needs to divert Strength into both Dex and Int to wear Solus Ipse because it boosts its own requirements
- Volcanic Fissure + Sunder for single target. Upheaval support on both makes it so that it double/triple shotguns and deals our single target damage. Sunder has 5 AoE circle "waves" in its 3 lines which can each individually tag some of the 3 Fissure lines to Fissure aftershock when slamming both from the same position and direction. This is maybe 25~ hits of Volcanic Fissure in an ideal large stationary target per Sunder before any Sunder aftershocks are accounted for. We invest in making Sunder aftershock as often as possible with chance and attack speed from a 1H mace in Set 1. Set 2 we invest in warcries and other damage things when snapshotting Volcanic Fissure. Sunder's AoE size needs to be about the same as Volcanic Fissure so concentrated effect is needed
- Reverberate Support. We can limit excess attack speed to get it to be 100% chance to aftershock a Sunder, but I opt to trade off the reduced .25 attack time in favor of smoother mapping and faster 2H setup while keeping it at 95%. Aftershocks are an effective multiplying scaling vector because we're not giving up damage to increase the chances of them happening
- Leap Slam + Boneshatter for mapping. 1H mace means we prime for stun more white mobs without outright killing them with Leap Slam, it's about 40% faster than 2H Maces, and Boneshatters no longer instantly pop rare mobs. We have to either prep Temper Weapon beforehand, or follow up with 1H Volcanic Fissure for bulkier rare mobs so it's used on both Weapon Sets. Leap Slam/Boneshatter/Sunder is on Set 1, Warcries are on Set 2 and never used outside of bossing for ease of automating weapon swap. Never really needed Infernal Cry for mapping since Boneshatter already does the same thing, but it's an option.
- Fire Spell on Hit. We're just using this to automate Solar Orb for Fire Exposure and Font of Rage/Blood to help maintain Rage when needing to reposition. It triggers way too much on a boss since we have many hits going off so slotting in Flammability will drain us rapidly. I manually use an Orb of Storms for another Font of Rage during downtime/start of the fight since controllers autoaim a distance away and it spawns right in front of my position instead.
- Temper Weapon bug. The build will still function even without this bug skyrocketing the damage. It can still proc multiple times with aftershocks and its Combust is about 2x stronger than Volcanic Fissure damage-wise after fire conversions. This bug is the very same one where an Empowered attack will proc it multiple times per hit when it's supposed to be 1 per attack when you are out of Temper Weapon charges which counts for weapon swap setting it to zero.
- Kaom's Heart. We have no need for Spirit Gems right now and I just wanted a slightly higher life pool. Berserk degen is awkward for bossing since most damage is Fire, Herald of Ash can kill white mob stragglers which ruins Boneshatter, Overwhelming Presence is probably the most useful if enemy stun thresholds are making Leap Slam with Brink Support not 1-hit priming for stun. I miss Vitality and Cannibalism the most, honestly
glad to see the FPS of volcanic fissure is still as bad as I first tried it
I'm not sure I get the bug. You just temper weapon then swap to a different weapon to reset the counters, then use fissures to quickly proc combust on temper weapon? I'm not sure if sunder is needed then. Last season fissure could give itself more aftershocks, I played 0 fps warrior for a bit.
Looks super cool, I'm trying to adapt this to a Chronomancer build that uses recoup and blasphemy temp chains for defences. How exactly does the warcry work? Does it snapshot the first Volc Fissures for it's duration?
Hey I am playing a similar build and currently oneshot every boss I have encountered with gear that is all 1 div or less, here are a couple of my findings,
-
Volcanic fissure has insane scaling from dual wielding since it has no damage penalty, just an attack speed penalty. Weapon swap is extremely good for this skill to max the damage of fissure before swapping to a set-up with more attack speed, tankiness, etc.
-
Since stacking attack speed penalties is extremely brutal for mace skills (possibly bugged?), I would recommend not using upheaval on Volcanic Fissure if dual wielding, just on the skill triggering it.
-
Not sure which one is better bc it's hard to test but I've had a lot of success with upheaval + Earthshatter for triggering volcanic fissure. Each spike will proc the fissure when it aftershocks(not when it explodes), so with the unique mace that always aftershocks + other aftershock supports, each attack procs minimum 6 times if positioned correctly.
