The best spellcaster build now that Choir of the Storm is nerfed/bugfixed?
The recent update for patch 0.2.1 bugfixed Choir of the Storms without any mention in the patch notes. If you're looking for a new build now that Spark and Arc builds have been nerfed, check out my Frostbolt Comet Blood Mage.
The Frostbolt Comet Blood Mage already rivaled Spark and Arc builds even before the Choir of the Storm bugfix. The build launches Frostbolts through entire screens to cause multiple explosions, and rapidly drop Comets to deal more damage than Spark and Arc at equal investment into gear.

Snakepit is highly recommended to start the build as it enables Frostbolt projectiles to fork and explode on enemies. Ice Nova has high freeze buildup to trigger Frostbolts from Cast on Freeze. Blink is included in the mapping setup to traverse quickly.
Comet is not as efficient as Frostbolt for clearing groups of enemies while mapping, but it's rapidly triggered from Cast on Critical to kill bosses.
Blood Mage is currently the best ascendancy for spellcasters due to infinite "Mana" and Life scaling to increase both survivability and damage.
Ive been doing very similarly with my infernalist. I use two frostbolts with COF and just casting ice nova for mapping and obviously COC comet for bosses

Love this build followed your guide when it came out but I've been doing a similar thing based off this guy which feels a bit more optimised for mapping
Throwing this up in case anyone wants a PoB of this build: only got to about 91 so cut some points from the mapping and bossing trees respectively from the guide. Got a cheap Frostbolts Prism of Belief and use that while mapping, was going to get a +2 Comet but found a cheap +1 and use that for now for bossing. Back to my other build for now and waiting on the new PoE 1 league, hope ya'll enjoy, was a blast to get it going.
It doesnt rapidly drop comets on single target at all. Boss damage is quite bad.
Ember fusillage comet coc build is far better.
Was gonna play choir.. What have they changed?
I just set up the basics for this build, and I think i'm missing something major.

Yes it's fairly budget, but I want to make sure the mechanics are workable before i spend any more $ i dont have on the build.
