Is it too late to start?
But this game awhile back but never got a chance to get going. I wanna start playing tomorrow as the weekend starts.. how should I go about playing? Which build? Does it matter? I feel like I will be too far behind and may as well wait the next reset. Just need something to get me started tomorrow. Thank you.

If this is your first play through it really doesn’t matter. Just hop in and you will have some fun !

If anything, play now and understand how the game operates. Then next season you can jump right in.
The reset is coming end of August so you still have a while. Even if you use this time to get used to things, learn boss mechanics etc. can't really say what builds are going to survive the next league, lightning spear is definitely getting nerfed.
If this is your first time playing, just start in solo self found. This is almost the end of the league so trading is almost dead. You'll learn the game and can start properly in the new league. I myself started 2 weeks ago and couldn't progress further without trading so I started solo self found again yesterday.
even if leagues about to end, you should still play to learn more on mechanics and everything
Economy might be rough on trade but it's not too late. You can also play SSF it's much better for learning the game anyways.
