You aren't the only one but we all develop a healthy respect for the drowning orb after having this happen once or twice.
They have to be my least favourite monster in the game. Took me a while to figure them out, but yeah, f*** 'em!
For my warrior, the moment I see this, it’s a straight leap slam to the hag. Don’t stay still.
I played HCSSF made it to Act 1 cruel just to find out this piece of shhhh river hag appears right in the starting area.... and ofc i drowned in the orb. I don't mind dieing in HC but this orb gives you the feeling that your fate has been sealed the second you touched it :/

Oh I died like this on my hardcore character in PoE 1 with mageblood equipped, and after that you never die from a drowning orb again!
I think most player died once in HC to it, unless they saw or heard someone else die to it before.
The debuff bar is so far away on the top left and many debuff don’t have descriptions that I didn’t even look at the debuff for that one 😭

Started playing a frost sorceress. Found out you can freeze shit in midair. And I thought to myself... wouldn't that suck? Freezing in mid air and watching the boss casually stride over to shatter my character into little pieces... :O
Also found out that if the ground is frosty, and you freeze something that's running on it... the frozen body will sliiiiide along it.
Hilariously amazing.
This game is mostly dying in stupid ways. There are no indicators if imminent death

I killed myself five times after going CI before I figured out my mana flask removed a portion of my life.
When my boyfriend and I started Act II and first came across this enemy, we died multiple times. Now we have a mutual hatred for those hags.
Im playing warrior and after quite some dying to these hags (and the crone poison barrage) I just started leap slamming all over the place

Those mobs are priority 1 whenever I see them
Damage over time effects against the player are ridiculously strong in this game. It’s like they tick 5x as fast as they should.
This ball, the burning ground effect, tornados…
Died to this yday on my third character, somehow it was the first time I encountered it this game.
Was always wondered what happened if you get caught in that orb lol
I play HC and lost my lv 40 gemling to these fuckers in act 3 drowned city.
After that i fumed for a few hours. Having a normal mob one-shot you in HC because you don’t know about a mechanic is infuriating.
Finally made it to maps and after finding them in Crimson Shore, i just avoid that map type completely.
Honestly don’t feel like this type of one-shot should exist when playing HC, the only thing you can do is always carry a “slow immunity” charm and run away whenever you see them as melee. Too risky to attack.

Died to the orb while stuck in the lever-pulling animation in an Augery map. Was expecting a cold DoT from it, not instant death after 3 seconds...
Nope… thought I could get my sunder off before I drowned.. didn’t make it

After all the complaints about drowning orbs in tier17's you'd think they wouldn't add them to poe2, they did. And they're in game as early as act 3.
Whenever I see that witch, I always make sure I kill her first. Died way too many times by that stupid orb just because I wasn't paying attention.
I frost walled and trapped myself between mobs while an orb was spawned on my head once. :D I'm sure most people have a drowning orb story haha.
Today i died i my 4th sekhema trial floor when consuming an honor restoration pool because it afflicted me with "you have no energy shield"...

I hate to say it but you literally dodge roll into it. Although I agree that as I melee enjoyer I hate seeing these hags.
Nope not the only one, but after the first drowning, my priority has shifted from getting the boss first to get that hag first before anything in the map.
If it was you and 200 people we would have gotten off light

I like the hops your character does almost like he's having fun in the water till he's not.
They get everyone mate wouldn’t worry about it, I hated that area of the campaign where you run into packs of them on a weak character
